More Than a Baseball Game
Each summer, the Iowa Cubs welcome IBCD campers to Principal Park as their special guests for ASL Night – one of the highlights of camp week.
Campers get opportunities most young baseball fans can only dream about: stepping onto the field, signing the National Anthem, throwing out a first pitch, participating in between-inning activities, and signing Take Me Out to the Ball Game during the seventh-inning stretch.
And ASL Night is more than just IBCD attending an Iowa Cubs game. Hundreds of people who are Deaf and hard-of-hearing, families, friends, and supporters come together this one night, making it one of Iowa’s largest Deaf community events.
Since 2024, the Iowa Cubs have taken ASL Night even further with special ASL jerseys, auctioned during the game to support IBCD.
For one night, our campers aren’t just watching the game.
They’re the stars.

Friday at Principal Park
The fun continues Friday morning. IBCD campers return to Principal Park for one last adventure together – exploring the ballpark, playing baseball on the field, and celebrating the end of camp week. It all starts with a behind-the-scenes tour of areas most fans never get to see.
After the tours, it’s time to play. Campers take the field for relaxed pick-up games, with Iowa Cubs players joining in on the fun.
After the games, everyone heads upstairs for a pizza party with campers, families, volunteers, and friends – one last chance to eat, laugh, spend time together, and say goodbye before heading home.
The IBCD Director then sleeps for approximately 37 hours.
And then…
We will see you next year!
