Why Your Support Matters

For many children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, playing sports can be isolating. Communication barriers, limited accessibility, and the feeling of being the only child who is Deaf on the team can make it difficult to fully participate or simply feel like they belong.

That’s why Iowa Baseball Camp for the Deaf exists.

Through the game of baseball, we create something much bigger than a week at the ballpark. Campers communicate freely through American Sign Language, interpreters, and a community that understands them. They build confidence, form lifelong friendships, and discover they’re surrounded by other kids who share similar experiences.

For many campers, IBCD is one of the few places where they never have to worry about being left out of a conversation or struggling to be understood. Here, they can simply be themselves.

Because of the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers, every child attends camp free of charge. Your support doesn’t just provide baseball equipment or meals—it helps create a place where children who are Deaf and hard-of-hearing feel seen, included, and connected.
